Atlanta Theater Dinner

  • The Bakery Atlanta 925 Peachtree Street Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30303 United States (map)

Dear Fellow Theater Maker,

I'm writing to invite you all to Atlanta Theater Dinner on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 6:30pm. The evening is a chance for stage managers, designers, administrators, actors, directors, playwrights, board members, critics, and artistic leadership to come together to have a conversation about race and equity in our theater community.

Atlanta Theater Dinners is produced by Out of Hand in partnership with One Small Change, Both And, and The Bakery. It will be held at The Bakery's newest space- New Square in Underground Atlanta.

The event is based on Decatur Dinners. What's that? Here's a short documentary about Decatur Dinners.

Our hope is to foster communication, to bring people together over a meal to bravely dialogue and to bravely listen about where they are, what they've experienced, ask questions, and dream into the community that we want to become. This Dinner is not about solving the problems. One conversation cannot solve the problem. It's about creating a space to share openly and honestly. One night isn't enough time to change the world, but it's enough to dream.

It's a free event, wheelchair accessible, and open to all, but it is a potluck! Bring something to feed your fellow artists if you're able. There will be a short performance to spark the conversation, we'll grab food, and then we'll have a conversation. Every table will have a trained facilitator to guide the evening's conversation. At the end of the evening, each person will commit to one action item they will take in the new year to help create greater racial equity.
