Who We Are:

The Bakery Atlanta is a 501(c)(3) arts service organization specializing in exhibitions, educational programming, and creative resources. We are a collective of artists, curators, and administrators dedicated to offering alternative models to local creatives and the public. Our mission is to broaden awareness of, and build community around, progressive ideas in the arts. We envision an Atlanta that supports emerging, DIY, and underground arts as they grow locally and throughout the Southeast.

Since 2017, The Bakery has presented experiential, multidisciplinary programming alongside traditional white-wall exhibitions. We began in a 23,000-square-foot warehouse in Southwest Atlanta and have remained intentionally adaptive as Atlanta’s cultural and economic landscape has changed around us.

What We Do:

ART EXHIBITIONS‍ ‍

Since 2017, The Bakery has presented hundreds of exhibitions showcasing artists at every stage of their careers, from students and emerging creatives to established artists. We create space for experimentation, unexpected ideas, and a wide range of artistic voices.

DIGITAL RESOURCES

We connect Atlanta’s creative community with tools and information they need to thrive. Through our artist directory, opportunities listings, AltGaze Blog, and Grumpy’s Guide weekly events roundup, we help locals find resources, share their work, and stay connected to what’s happening in Atlanta.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING

From monthly Figure Drawing and Collage Nights to hands-on workshops, we work with artists and educators to make creative learning accessible. Our programs invite artists of all levels to develop their practice or learn something new.

CREATIVE PLACEMAKING

We find unexpected ways to bring creativity into everyday spaces. From a yarn mural in Buckhead to a rooftop fashion show Downtown, we love to bring placemaking projects, big or small, to life. Wtih these projects, we invite artists and the public to experience their city in new ways.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

We bring people together through artist-led events including monthly film screenings, literature open mics, and more. These in person events create opportunities for artists and the public to share ideas, discover new work, and build community.

ART CURATION + CONSULTING

Our team of artists, curators, and administrators can help bring your creative ideas to life. We consult on art installations, community projects, activations, and more. Drawing on our knowledge of Atlanta’s artists and creative landscape to develop projects that fit each client’s vision.

Who We Serve:

We serve emerging to mid-career artists in Atlanta. We are particularly interested in artists working experimentally, across disciplines, or outside traditional commercial pathways.
