The Bakery’s Yarn Mural on Path400 with Livable Buckhead
What happens when a walking path, a fence, a highway, and hundreds of hands come together? A growing public artwork that proves creativity belongs to everyone!
Since 2020, The Bakery Atlanta has been facilitating an ongoing collaborative yarn mural with Livable Buckhead and volunteers from Hands on Atlanta. We love watching the mural evolve as new groups contribute their own yarn circles - it's also visible from GA 400 so keep your eyes out for it on the road! Each yarn circle is unique, and together they transform the fence between the walkable Path400 and the constant motion of the GA 400 highway into a colorful, ever-changing public artwork

This project reimagines the tradition of ‘Yarn Bombing’ by making it truly accessible. While yarn bombing relies on crocheted or knitted pieces, this mural requires no prior experience. Anyone can participate. By removing technical barriers, the project invites people of all skill levels to create side by side, turning a simple act of making into a shared experience.
The result is more than a mural. It’s a community-building tool! The installation sparks conversations among neighbors, brings volunteers together across backgrounds, and activates public space with creativity.
Thank you to Livable Buckhead for inviting us to lead this project. 💖
