The Bakery Atlanta Debuts its First Ever Summer School for Artists

The Bakery Atlanta has hosted our first-ever Summer School for Artists! We hosted over 30 attendees in this two-day professional intensive designed for emerging artists, cultural workers, and creative entrepreneurs.
The intensive was held over the weekend of Saturday, August 8th, and Sunday, August 9th, at The Supermarket.

Summer School for Artists was inspired by the need for practical business education beyond traditional art school. We brought together local professionals with expertise in finances, taxes, marketing, liability, copyright law, and more to share real-world knowledge through interactive sessions and hands-on learning.
We hosted eight sessions throughout the weekend focused on providing artists with new skills to enrich their creative practices. Speakers and session leaders included, George F Baker III, Jillian Todd, Lisa Schnellinger, Camisha Butler, Lynne Tanzer, Katie Costa, Kaliena Bowen, Asli Shebe-Tindi, and Sarah Lawrence.
Artists also had the opportunity to participate in personal document reviews with one on one feedback from local art administrators and marketing professionals: Amanda Norris, Monica Campana, Samantha Singleton, Sarah Lawerence and Lynne Tanzer.
In addition to the workshops offered over the weekend, participants had the opportunity to take fun and creative headshots, shot by Blake Pipes.

Thanks to a grant from The Community Corps, we were able to not only offer an affordable ticket price, but also accept all of our requests for subsidized and free tickets. This grant allowed us to experiment with this program and remove a financial barrier for those who needed it.
